Today is my stop on the Mommy&Me; Blog Tour from Everything Your Mama Made (affiliate link)! EYMM has loads of patterns available in huge size ranges, many of them from newborn to ladies’ plus sizes. So enough opportunity to make some matching wear for my girls and me.
A few weeks ago I made this Off the Shoulder Tunic for myself and since then it has been in constant rotation – I wore it as soon as it was washed and dried – so I decided to make some more of these. Plus, it’s a super fast sew, so no problem to make three of them.
The pattern consists of a basic raglan sleeved shirt or tunic and attached a huge gathered cowl. Whereas the construction of the cowl got me a bit confused the first time – due to overthinking, eventually I just followed the instructions and all went fine – I didn’t have to check back on the instructions once for these next three tunics.
She looks so grown up with her one bare shoulder!
M. chose this purple knit from my stash. I bought it in a great quilt shop a while ago. In this larger size, a size 6, the medium weight worked fine as well, giving some more body to the cowl without adding bulk.
For myself I used a grey knit from that same store, so incredibly soft and stretchy, I didn’t want to take it off! I made a size M yet again. However, since the first one was a bit short and wide at the bottom, I tapered the side-seams about half an inch each and added over an inch in length. I did the same on the sleeves. Thus it fits perfectly, comfortable yet stylish, what else does a mom need?
