Today I’m part of the Fat Quarter Skirt blog tour! A fun little pattern by Thread Riding Hood, that only uses two fat quarters, elastic and thread, nothing more, nothing less.
The concept of a “fat quarter” is not very common over here in the Netherlands, I think only dedicated quilters are familiar with the term. It refers to a piece of fabric, 18″ by 21/22″.
The pattern uses one fat quarter for the main part of the gathered skirt and the second fat quarter for the hem and the inside of the waist band. The skirt is all straight, with just an elasticated waist.
The main fabric was chosen from my stash by the four year old… She loves princesses, mermaids and all other fairytale creatures.
The pattern is really suitable for beginners, you don’t even have to do a real hem, it’s just a strip of fabric folded in half. Fast!!
