For all those stretchy moves, Meike needs lots of leggings, so when Irene called for testers again, I was happy to oblige! Seems like testing leggings is becoming my specialty, after testing Lollipop Leggings and Fancy Pants Leggings, these are Basic Leggings.
The pattern comes in sizes 3-14 and is, surprisingly, a basic cuffed legging pattern. The red fabric is a gorgeous stretchy knit, I guess it contains lycra or something similar. I previously made the Wonderland Dress in this fabric, seen in the pictures below. Though the dress has been worn a lot, the fabric remains perfect.
The striped leggings are made of a simple knit fabric, without the lycra. Though the fit is fine, the lack of recovery in the fabric causes sagging around the knees after a few hours wear. The red, white and blue mini stripes are very cute though, so I’ll take the wrinkly knees for granted every now and then.
All in all it’s a lovely pattern, a staple and, as all leggings are, an amazingly quick and satisfying sew. About fifteen minutes behind your machine to make a garment that will be worn a lot, what else can one wish for?
You can read more about the pattern at Serger Pepper, or buy it of course!
You were great, matching red striped shirt are fantastic, I love them.
