So of course I jumped to the chance, being a fan of Jess’ blog and designs. The pattern to test was the Lulu Dress & Top, in sizes 12-18 months all through to size 8. The basic dress (or top of course) comes with a variety of options: cap sleeve or sleeveless, skirt in woven or knit, optional skirt pockets, optional shirt pocket, optional faux placket and optional bow. To quote Jess: “A girl’s got to have options!”.
For my little lady, I made a size 12-24 months, all knit dress, with cap sleeves and skirt pockets. I used the same gorgeous red knit seen before here and here. Not much left of it now in my stash, so I hope to find some more of it somewhere…
The gathers at the waistline are made by encasing some elastic at the seam where bodice and skirt meet. The dress is a bit long for my little girl of 15 months, she’s not very tall, so I might chop off 1.5″ to make it easy wearable for this summer, but that’s a job for another day… On Jess’ request I made another one after this, in her new size 12-18 months, to perfect the fit. I’ll blog it as soon as I can convince my little girl to stand still for a photo.
Thanks for having me test Jess, I already see a lot of Lulu in our near future!
I received this pattern free of charge to test this. However, all opinions are honestly my own!
