Second week of my project! Last week I chose to do a kid craft from my Pinterest board Crafts & Creative. My fellow participant Tasha at I Seam Stressed created a cute bracelet, pinned ages ago. Likewise I dug into the old section of my pins and came up with this pin of Instagram Pillows by Lil Blue Boo.
De tweede week van mijn project! Vorige week koos ik een kinderknutsel, van mijn Pinterest-bord Crafts & Creative. Mijn partner in crime Tasha, van I Seam Stressed, maakte een stoere armband, die ze tijden geleden gepind had. Ik besloot om ook de afdeling “oude pins” in te duiken en vond deze pin van Instagram kussentjes door Lil Blue Boo.
I used old sheets and transfer paper from Hema, I still had lingering around. Picking photos seemed the hardest… I haven’t been active on Instagram for a long time yet, but love the images I collected so far. I had to restrain myself from making twenty sachets at once! Thankfully I didn’t do that, since the transfer paper was a disaster to work with. I have used transfer paper from another brand before, that went easy, but this one went yellow and the paper kept sticking to the image.
Ik gebruikte oude lakens en transferpapier van de Hema, uit mijn voorraad. Het uitkiezen van de foto’s leek nog het lastigste… Hoewel ik nog niet vreselijk lang actief ben op Instagram, heb ik al flink wat foto’s verzameld waar ik enthousiast over ben. Ik moest me dus inhouden om niet meteen twintig zakjes te maken! Gelukkig heb ik dat niet gedaan, want het papier was een ramp om mee te werken. Ik heb eerder transfer papier van een ander merk gebruikt, dat ging prima, maar deze werd geel en het papier bleef aan de afbeeldingen plakken.
Instead of a regular seam, I chose to close the sachets with a zigzag on the outside. The sachets I made were quite small, so this made it all in the right proportions. Plus the zigzag added a pop of colour to the sachets as well. Since we seem to have moths over here, I decided to fill the sachets with lavender. Hope to scare those awful cloth-eating creatures away with the smell of the South of France and some pictures of my life…
In plaats van een normale naad, heb ik de zakjes gemaakt met een zigzagstiksel aan de buitenkant. De zakjes waren vrij klein en kregen zo een mooie verhouding. Daarbij geeft het zigzagje een leuk kleuraccent aan de kussentjes. Aangezien we motten lijken te hebben hier, besloot ik ze te vullen met lavendel. Hopelijk jagen de geur van Zuid-Frankrijk en de foto’s van mijn leventje die nare stofeters gauw weg…
