Remember the wonderful series “Flip This Pattern”? It started in 2013 with a different pattern to hack each month, in 2014 the spotlight was on different indie designers in the “September Showcase” and now in 2015 the lovely sisters have organised another amazing series: “February Free for All“! Yep, FREE patterns in the spotlight. Because, who doesn’t like free patterns? For my stop I chose the Liv Skirt* pattern by Sofilantjes.
The Liv Skirt
The Liv Skirt is designed for knits and stands out with the fun circular pockets. It has a comfortable stretch waist band, so it must feel almost like loungewear.
The pattern – available in both English and Dutch – comes in sizes Newborn to 9/10. Though the pockets are what makes it special, the pockets are optional.
Sofilantjes Patterns
The pattern is designed by my friend Annemieke, the Dutch designer behind Sofilantjes*. The skirt matches perfectly with M.’s pink Omni Tempore sweater, another Sofilantjes pattern!
An advantage of the pattern is that it requires very little fabric. I used scraps from this Off The Shoulder Tunic for the main fabric and some scraps of pink ribbing for the waist band and the pocket binding.
Though it was freezing cold at the beach, she was very happy in her new skirt! I made one for her little sis as well, hope to show it to you soon.

first, such gorgeous scenery!
and the top and skirt are perfect! Annemieke is generous to offer a FREE skirt pattern that is so cute! (secretly, I want one in my size)
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Stacey! It is SOOO cute indeed!
Oh, and the scenery is indeed amazing, we’re very happy to live here!
I love the pockets on that skirt! And what an amazing beach you live near.
Thank you Rachel! And indeed, we live in a very special area. The island we live on is part of a World Heritage area, the Wadden Sea. It’s really a privilege to live here (though there are no fabric stores on the island, that is a tiny downside ;-))
Those pockets! We think a skirt can be a blank palette for creativity to flourish, and that’s what you have done here!
Thank you Audrey, for your wonderful compliment!
Those pockets DO make it extra-special, and I know a few of our nieces that would love a skirt like this!! Thanks for sharing and introducing us to this free pattern we didn’t know about…
Thank YOU ladies, for giving me the motivation to sew this pattern at last! Your series was just what I needed 😉
Cute skirt! I love the pop of bright pink on those fabulous pockets.:)
Thank you Cindy! By using some bright pink I can get away with dressing my kids in my favourites: greys and blacks 😉
Such a cute skirt! I’ll have to get that pattern as I love your version 🙂
Thanks Ajaire! I think it would really fit your style indeed!
That skirt is adorable! I love the pockets!
Thank you Karly! The pockets really give the skirt that something extra, don’t they?
Such fun pockets, especially with the contrasting binding. Great photo shoot, too.
Thanks Pam, we’re so lucky to live on this beautiful island!
